SanDisk Portable SSD 1TB with Updated Firmware
The SanDisk Portable SSD 1TB is a compact external solid-state drive designed for fast backups, everyday storage and moving large files between compatible laptops and desktop computers. This updated G26 revision provides read speeds of up to 800MB/s through a USB 3.2 Gen 2 interface.
With 1TB of storage, the drive provides space for documents, photographs, videos, business files and creative projects. The SanDisk Portable SSD 1TB weighs only 40g and includes a durable rubber hook, making it easy to attach to a bag or carry between work, home and travel.
Why Choose the SanDisk Portable SSD 1TB?
This portable drive combines the speed of solid-state storage with a lightweight and travel-friendly design. With no moving mechanical parts, it is smaller and more resistant to everyday movement than a conventional portable hard drive.
- 1TB capacity for files, media and backups
- Read speeds of up to 800MB/s
- USB 3.2 Gen 2 interface
- Compact 40g construction
- Drop protection tested from heights of up to two metres
- Built-in rubber hook for attaching it to a bag or belt loop
- Three-year limited manufacturer warranty
For users comparing storage options, this SanDisk 1TB external SSD offers a practical balance of capacity, performance and portability without moving to a larger desktop storage device.
What Does Updated Firmware Mean?
SanDisk identifies model SDSSDE30-1T00-G26 as the updated-firmware edition of its portable SSD. The official product page rates this G26 revision at up to 800MB/s read speed.
The updated-firmware description should be used to distinguish this exact model from earlier revisions. It should not be interpreted as a guarantee against file loss or as a replacement for maintaining backups. Always keep important information on at least one additional storage device or trusted backup service.
Fast 800MB/s External SSD Performance
The SanDisk Portable SSD 1TB provides sequential read performance of up to 800MB/s. This can reduce the time required to open or transfer large photograph collections, video files, project folders and computer backups.
As an 800MB/s external SSD, it is considerably faster than many conventional portable hard drives. Actual performance can be lower depending on the computer, USB port, cable, files being transferred and operating conditions.
SanDisk does not publish a specific maximum write-speed figure for this model. Write performance is lower than the quoted 800MB/s read speed and will vary with the workload.
USB 3.2 Gen 2 Connectivity
The drive has a USB-C connector and uses a USB 3.2 Gen 2 interface. The supplied USB-C to USB-A cable connects the drive directly to a compatible USB-A port on a laptop or desktop computer.
The USB 3.2 Gen 2 SSD interface supports high-speed data transfer, but the connected computer must have a suitable USB port to provide the best available performance. Connecting it through an older USB port can reduce transfer speed.
If your computer has only USB-C ports, you will need a suitable USB-C to USB-C data cable. Connect the drive directly to the computer where possible instead of using an unpowered hub or unsuitable adapter.
Compact and Durable Portable Storage
The SanDisk Portable SSD 1TB measures approximately 96.9 × 46.9 × 9.91mm and weighs only 40g. Its small footprint makes it easy to carry in a laptop bag, backpack or pocket.
The enclosure includes drop protection tested from heights of up to two metres. A durable rubber hook also allows the SSD to be secured to a bag or belt loop while travelling.
No official IP water-resistance rating is listed for this model. Keep the SSD and USB connector away from water, excessive heat and physical pressure.
Reliable Storage for Backups and Large Files
The SanDisk Portable SSD 1TB is suitable for storing and transferring:
- Office documents and company records
- School assignments and research files
- High-resolution photographs
- Recorded videos and editing projects
- Presentation and design files
- Computer backup folders
- Personal media collections
- Files shared between compatible computers
An external SSD can protect against data stored only on a computer being lost during a computer failure. However, it should not be the only copy of important files. Use an additional drive or secure cloud backup for critical information.
